The Stage 2 arrival of the 2016 Tour de France will take place at the Cherbourg-en-Cotentin suburb called La Glacerie, after a short yet steep hill climb briefly reaching 14 % at one point.

Cherbourg-en-Cotentin will showcase its dynamism for the Tour de France audience. Lovers of beautiful sites will extend their stay in this Stage Town to discover the transatlantic terminal that has been designated as one of the French historical monuments. It hosted the Titanic’s last continental stopover. Inside the terminal, ‘The Cité de la Mer’ (Ocean City) retraces the last stopover of this legendary ocean liner and reveals to its visitors the odyssey of humans underwater.

It is also an excellent opportunity to discover the ‘Cherbourg Umbrella’ Factory, which became well known thanks to the eponymous film directed by Jacques Demy.
